FIKE BOARD MEETING
2/9/17

Treasurer's Report/Teacher Grants:
Current account balance is $19,667.82. We are still waiting for the
Grant funds to come in.
Teacher Reimbursements:
The $50 Teacher Reimbursements will be offered to Certified Staff.
A parent committee has been formed to work on the process. The
members are Sherry, Sam and Windy. They are working on the
guidelines, receipt acceptance rules, forms, etc. It was decided
that receipts dated August 1, 2016, or after will be accepted for
reimbursement. Once the committee finalizes the details, forms will
be emailed and placed in teacher's boxes. A tentative deadline for
teachers to turn in receipts is March 1.
Fundraising:
We will begin the shoe fundraiser "Funds2Orgs" once we receive the
starter kit. We discussed coordinating this around the blood drive,
as not to interfere, but some thought it would possibly be good to
have it during the blood drive as convenience for those coming in
to give blood who may also bring shoes. Sherry will provide
warehouse space for storing the donations.
Teacher Appreciation:
Our next opportunity is Valentine's Day. We will provide treat
boxes on Monday 2/13 or Tuesday 2/14. Please contact Felicia

Academic Excellence Celebration:
This ceremony, which recognizes students who have a 4.0 or higher
GPA at mid-semester, will be held April 28, 2017, from 9-11 a.m.
Lee Ann is planning this event. She said that we will need to
purchase a new box to house this year's plaques. She is still
working on securing a guest speaker. The board agreed that each
senior who has achieved this honor all four years will receive a
Roo Cup and a $5 Chick-fil-A gift card. We discussed the Senior
Highlights Information sheet and decided to limit their activity
participation listings to 2.
News from Mr. Holley:
Fike will hold its freshman/sophomore Parent Night tonight
(February 9). Topics will include college entrance and course
registrations for next year.
Rising senior course registration for next year begins today.
Rising juniors will complete theirs end of next week (week of
2/13). Parents, please assist your children with this.
First semester testing went well. EOC results showed gain over
last year in Math 1; English & Biology stayed the same.
Fike is now the only IB high school in town. Students in the IB
program will transfer to Fike.
The AP Capstone program will be implemented at all three high
schools next year.
Next meeting: March 9 at noon. The meeting was
adjourned.
